A critical step in creating such a world requires us to analyze, reflect on, and debate the world as it is, as it might, could, or should be.

Nokoko aims to be a site for such important conversations related to Africa, the African diaspora, and the continent’s relationship with the rest of the world. Nokoko is a platform for public intellectuals, academics, social movements and organizations that share our vision. The journal is open access, with no fees to submit, publish or read.

Hosted by the Institute of African Studies, at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada), the journal Nokoko offers a space for emerging and established scholars to publish and engage in discussions about their work on Africa and the African diaspora. Published annually, articles and contributions to the journal are peer-reviewed. Submissions should be robust, clearly written and accessible to academic and non-academic readership alike (see below for author guidelines).

‘Nokoko’ is a Ga word that means something new, novel, surprising and interesting.

https://ojs.library.carleton.ca/index.php/nokoko/article/view/2295 Incorporeal Words: The Tragic Passing of Pius Adesanmi 2019-05-22T12:27:03+00:00 Blair Rutherford nokoko@carleton.ca 2019-05-22T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ojs.library.carleton.ca/index.php/nokoko/article/view/2335 Elections and Electoral Politics in Africa Movements Forward, Backwards or Nowhere? 2019-05-27T13:27:46+00:00 Toby Leon Moorsom nokoko@carleton.ca Wangui Kimari nokoko@carleton.ca Christopher Webb nokoko@carleton.ca 2019-05-02T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ojs.library.carleton.ca/index.php/nokoko/article/view/2299 Entrenched Dictatorship: The Politics of Rigged Elections in Rwanda since 1994 2019-05-22T12:36:56+00:00 Susan Thomson nokoko@carleton.ca Madeline Hopper nokoko@carleton.ca 2019-05-22T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ojs.library.carleton.ca/index.php/nokoko/article/view/2301 Electoral Democracy and the Attenuation of Subaltern Resistance in Ghana: Why Democracy is increasingly becoming a Poisoned Chalice in Africa 2019-05-22T12:50:29+00:00 Jasper Abembia Ayelazuno nokoko@carleton.ca 2019-05-02T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ojs.library.carleton.ca/index.php/nokoko/article/view/2302 Voting without Choosing?
